Erika Hayasaki is a journalist, author, and associate professor whose work has appeared in The Atlantic, Wired, The Wall Street Journal, and countless other publications. She is a 2018 Alicia Patterson Fellow, receiving an award for science and environmental reporting, and previously spent 9 years as a staff reporter and national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times. Additionally, she is an associate professor at the University of California, Irvine, and published her first book, The Death Class: A True Story About Life, in 2014. She is working on a forthcoming book about adoption, identity, and one mother’s epic quest to reunite Vietnamese identical twins separated at birth. Erika lives in Southern California and is the proud mother of a 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old identical twin boys.
